Aromas of white peach and ripe pear, almond nougat and hints of vanilla and jasmine. Supported by stone fruit and fresh lemon-lime characters in the mouth, the finish is long and textural, displaying an exceptional natural acidity, pink grapefruit and well-integrated spicy French oak.
The Chardonnay fruit was hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed and split into two batches for low temperature fermentation in French oak barriques. The wine was matured for 16 months in 50% new French oak before blending and bottling. 13.2% alc/vol.
95 Points, Ned Goodwin, 2021 Halliday Wine Companion.
"A selection of the strongest performing plots. Hand harvested, whole-bunch pressed and fermented on full solids. 10 months in French wood, 30% new. Tight. Defined by oak at this nascent stage. Truffle, curd, nougat and cashew. This requires confidence in the fruit to transcend its oaky carriage. With a work out in the glass and the billow of stone fruit that emerges, I have that confidence."
