The 2013 'The Prophet' Pinot Noir Story

Following the establishment of Charles' first vineyard up at Yarra Junction back in 1999, Charles' grandmother sent a vision of rolling hills and vines to Charles' mother in a dream ahead of the family's first visit to the Dixon's Creek vineyard in 2006. The family haven"t looked back since, and "The Prophet" Pinot Noir is a tribute to the realisation of a dream.

Tasting Notes

Grown in the Upper Yarra at our premium Pinot Noir Yarra Junction vineyard, "The Prophet" is an aromatic blend of black cherry and ripened pink raspberries. An essence of crushed violets and seductive vanilla underpins the fresh herb notes of sage and thyme on the palate. Well-integrated oak blends with red fruits and balanced warm, spicy notes.

The Pinot fruit was hand-pruned and hand-harvested for intact of the berries, cold soaked for four days and inoculated with Burgundian yeast to ferment in half tonne batches. Transferred to 50% new French oak for 12 months maturation prior to blending and bottling. 13.5% alc/vol. This wine was rated 93 points by James Halliday.
